Tacos El Gordo - Las Vegas: Authentic Mexican Street Tacos on the Strip

For some context, I had Tacos el Gordo for the first time at their San Diego location. Their Las Vegas location was my second time trying and the food was consistent to the first time. I really enjoyed their Al Pastor and carne asada tacos as well as carne asada fries. The one annoying thing about their locations is the way you order. If you want carne asada tacos, its one line and if you want al pastor it’s another. So you may spend 30 minutes waiting for al pastor tacos and then if you want something else its another wait and by the time you get everything you want, one set of tacos will be cold. Wish the way you ordered was more like The Taco Stand. Overall i still recommend this place but come with a friend so you can have two people in two different lines at once.

OhhhhMyGodddd!!! This was the bestest taco I’ve ever had! And I never thought I’d say that about a corn tortilla’d taco, but I just did! I got here right as they opened for the day, being the 2nd person in the door once they opened. Within minutes, they were packed! I stood in the first line for Al Pastor, but waited about 5 mins and they never started serving from there, so I went all the way down to the second one and there were a few people in front of me, which took about 5 mins of waiting, but when I got to the front, I asked him for some extra charred pieces (and I dropped a $5 bill in the tip box for him) and he did me right! One thing I loved and found impressive was the amazing smells of the meats all being grilled, cooked, charred over fire! Their Al Pastor spits were in these huge cookers that had flames blowing at a hi-rate up the back of them. So, when I asked for mine to be extra charred all he had to do was let that spit spin twice and they were just how I wanted them, and this made for extra flavor too! I also tried a beef taco and it was very tasty! I love how they assemble the tacos too! I simply said to put everything on them and they made the Al Pastor uniquely different from the beef – both being outstanding! Both made on these slightly thicker than normal corn tortillas, which they must make in-house, because I’ve never seen these anywhere else. The corn flavoring to these tortillas was outstanding! The meats were perfectly marinated/seasoned too! And the toppings were so fresh and tasty! Service here was excellent… Friendly and helpful and everyone spoke perfect English (at least those I encountered did). Highly recommend stopping in to give them a try… Hopefully you have a great experience, like I did!

Tacos El Gordo was amazing from start to finish. The flavors were bold and fresh, and very different from the Texas Mexican style I am used to. The tacos felt closer to true street style with fresh tortillas, rich seasoning, and great texture in every bite. It was a completely different taste in the best way and I would gladly go back. Anyone who enjoys real Mexican street style tacos should try this place at least once.

Tacos El Gordo is easily one of the best quick-serve food spots on the Strip. The moment you walk in, you feel the energy—fast, busy, and filled with the smell of fresh tortillas and seasoned meats grilling right in front of you. I had the carna asada tacos, and they were outstanding: tender, flavorful, and cooked the meat in front of us . The salsas were fresh, the portions were generous, and everything tasted authentic and made with care. The line can move fast or slow depending on the rush, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. Staff keeps things moving and delivers great food every time. This is one of those rare places where the quality matches the hype. If you’re on Las Vegas Blvd and craving real, flavor-packed Mexican food, Tacos El Gordo is a must-stop. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Located on the Las Vegas strip, so you know they are really good! Authentic Mexican tacos served fresh and made to order. The stations, numbered 1 through 6 and separated by protein choice(pork, fries, chorizos, steak). Once you narrow down your meat choice, then you must pick from tacos, sole, tostadas, and their feature taco Azteca! I love the crunchy corn shells, so I recommend their Adobada(pork) tostada. They top this dish with diced onions and small bits of pork(tasted like bacon bits). The taco azteca was an interesting combination, the green sauce was a creamy, dressing which added great flavor. They add slices of grilled, pickled nopalitos (cactus).

A close friend has been telling me how amazing the tacos are here but we've never really had time to check it out. We ended up coming out for a quick 2 night stay and made a point to try the tacos here. As many have stated, there is limited parking directly behind but all spots were taken so we "illegally” parked at the strip mall next door. I couldn't believe at how long the line was for the asada and am glad the lady asked what type of meat we wanted. She then pointed out that the adobada had a separate line which was a lot shorter. We ended up waiting 45 mins before we got our tacos and decided to eat in the car as there were no open tables. Glad the fries line was empty which allowed me to try the carne asada in the carne asada fries form. We ended up ordering 2 adobada quesadillas and damn was it tasty! Was disappointed with the asada as I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor. Glad I didn't wait in the 1+ hour line for asada tacos. Would definitely head back only for the adobada and really hope they figure out how to streamline their operations.

Tacos El Gordo is always a great spot for delicious, fresh tacos. The meat is flavorful, the tortillas are warm, and the salsa has the perfect kick. The service is quick even when it’s busy and the staff is so good and being there to answer any questions! Everything tastes authentic and the ambiance never dies. It’s a must-try place if you love good Mexican food!
